Jesus the Divine Word Parish is invited to explore ALPHA

A program designed to engage in questions of Christian life and faith within a structure of fellowship, acceptance, video presentations and small group discussions.
As Catholic laity, how do we create a vibrant parish culture to seize and support evangelization efforts in our local Calvert community?

Beginning this Lent, JDW will be hosting Alpha’s 11-week video series which empowers attendees to renew their faith & energize active participation in the universal calling for missionary discipleship. Connect with fellow parishioners in reflective discussions about the foundational message of Jesus Christ (kerygma in Greek, meaning “proclamation”) along with other thought-provoking series topics. Over 5,000 Catholic parishes and organizations around the world have utilized Alpha.

Each two-hour Alpha session includes:
•   Relax and build friendships while sharing a meal (~45 minutes)
•   Watch an Alpha video (~30 minutes)
•   Small Group Conversations (~45 minutes)

Sessions are a welcoming space to share, ask questions, or just listen!
There are no discussion demands or homework reading materials.
Choose to attend all sessions or just the ones that fit your schedule.

When: Every Friday night from February 20 to May 8 (with no sessions during Holy Week)
Location: Doran Hall. Teen attendees have concurrent Alpha Youth sessions in the Nave.
Time: 6:30 to 8:30 PM after 6 PM Stations of the Cross (during Lent)
