First Communion Preparation

Welcome to FAITH FORMATION at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church. Over the next year your child will begin preparation for 1st Holy Communion as a student at CARDINAL HICKEY ACADEMY (CHA). Their instruction will include weekly visits to the classroom by Fr. John, our pastor.

As registered parishioners of Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church (JDW) in addition to their school formation there are 2 retreats and Minor Rites at 10AM Mass. As practicing Catholics we're called to attend weekly Mass each Sunday. During this year of 1st Communion preparation - please have your child sign the weekly Mass attendance book found in the narthex of the church beginning SEPTEMBER 21st.

COMMUNICATION with 1st Communion families will be via flocknotes. You can expect monthly emails. Please email a copy of your child's baptismal certificate to [email protected] if your child was NOT baptized at JDW. If your child was baptized at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church I do NOT need a copy of their baptismal certificate.

There is a $50.00 fee to cover expenses for the Minor Rites and retreats. Reach out if you have any questions or need more information. I'm here to help.
